How to Survive the Two-Week Wait

The two-week wait can feel like 2 years, in all honestly. Especially when you have been dreaming of being a mother for as long as you can remember. After so many years of trying to conceive and going through fertility treatments, the two-week wait doesn't get any easier. 
You begin to over analyze every cramp you feel, or you Google every symptom!

The first time around, I was miserable. I literally Google'd every single thing, like implantation cramping, stages of implantation, so on and so forth. That definitely didn't make it any better. So I have come up with a few things that helped me during the dreaded TWW.

  • Treat Yourself
    • Keeping your mind off of early testing is key, so grab some girlfriends and head out to lunch, go shopping with your mom, or head out to the salon for some mani/pedi time! 
  • Screen Time
    • Most of the time we are all so busy with life that we have so many recorded episodes of The Bachelor filling up our DVR's. Prop your feet up and enjoy some TV time alone or with your significant other. Or simply binge watch Netflix. 
  • Exercise
    • Although is really nice to relax, it's also necessary to get the blood flowing. Nothing too strenuous, a nice walk will do.
  • Date Night
    • Most men are pretty good at hiding their emotions, so we may dismiss the fact that they too are just as anxious and nervous as we are. Take this time to focus on your love for one another and go out for date night, or even a weekend getaway if possible. After so many doctors visits, fertility drugs and chaos, it's nice to enjoy one another without the constant worry of what medication is due when. 
  • Read
    • I'm book worm for sure, so curling up with a good book on the couch, a cozy blanket and perhaps some hot chocolate is the absolute best! Especially if it's been a long day at work.
  • Time to Clean
    • Clean out that closet that you have been putting off. Organize your pantry, go through your clothes and donate things you no longer need, just do anything to get things off of your mind. 
  • Find a Support System
    • In all honesty no one knows what we are going thru, unless they are going through it themselves. Finding people that are experiencing the same things is a great opportunity to meet new friends, chit-chat about infertility and how bad it sucks. Without feeling like you're sounding like a broken record to your best friend or husband. 
  • Do NOT Test Early
    • It will be difficult, but just wait. Be patient, pray, leave it in all in His hands.

  1. LOVED THIS and HELLLOOO I cannot believe I didn't even think of ways to support HUBBY on the TWW!!! Love the date night idea! In other news, I accidentally "removed content" from blog comments so if you find any comments are was an accident! LOL

  3. All of these are great ideas!! It's great to just skip the symptom spotting because everything could be something or not. Can't wait to find out how it goes!
